Over the last several years many customers have asked us about the papers we use to create Cards by Anne and why we feel so strongly about the use of recycled papers in our products.

     Like all of you, we feel that we have a welcomed responsibility to ensure a sustainable future for the generations to come.  That means that in addition to creating and appreciating in the present moment, we must be aware of our impact on those who will come after us.

     Thus, from the beginning of Cards by Anne in 1986, we have made a firm commitment to using recycled papers exclusively, and at the same time have hopefully provided a high quality writing experience for our customers. We really feel that it is a joy to write on high quality paper!

     We are happy to report that the paper industry has begun to take the concept of sustainability more seriously than it has in the past.  There are now more earth-friendly papers to choose from and there are more types of environmentally conscious paper designations than ever before.  For example, all of our papers are Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified.  That means that the products contain material from well-managed forests and post-consumer fiber.  In fact, our most-used paper at Cards by Anne contains 100% post-consumer fiber.  Additionally, several of our papers use alternative fibers such as renewable sugar cane pulp so that no new trees are destroyed. Finally, every one of the papers used by our company is processed chlorine free.
    
     So while this type of paper is significantly more expensive to purchase, we feel that it is worth the expense on many levels.  At the same time, we have tried to keep the cost of the cards as low as possible.  We hope that we have succeeded in creating a high quality, unique, and affordable collection of cards.
